Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 7 August 2026

Who we are

edunews.today ("we", "us") is an independent publication covering higher education. For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at desk@edunews.today.

What we collect

We keep data collection to the minimum a publication needs:

Analytics data. When you consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is read, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device type, and referring site. This data is pseudonymous and is not used to identify you personally. If you do not consent, no analytics cookies are set and this data is not collected.

Newsletter email. If you subscribe, we store the email address you provide, so we can send the newsletter. We ask for explicit consent at the point of signup, and every email includes a way to unsubscribe.

We do not sell your data, and we take no money from the institutions we cover.

Why we collect it, and our legal basis

Analytics data is processed only with your consent, which you give through the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time. Newsletter email is processed on the basis of the consent you give when you subscribe. We use the data to run and improve the publication and to deliver content you asked for, and for nothing else.

Cookies

We use analytics cookies only after you accept them. Our Cookie Policy lists each cookie, its purpose, and how long it lasts, and explains how to change your choice.

Who processes your data

Google acts as our analytics processor for the pseudonymous data described above; its handling is governed by Google's own terms. Our email provider processes newsletter subscriptions to deliver the newsletter. We share your data with no one else, except where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Analytics data is retained for a limited period in line with Google Analytics settings and then aggregated or deleted. Newsletter email is kept until you unsubscribe, after which it is removed from the active list.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and equivalent laws such as the GDPR for readers in the UK and EU, these rights apply regardless of where you are. To exercise any of them, email desk@edunews.today.

Grievance contact

For any complaint about how your data is handled, our grievance contact is reachable at desk@edunews.today. We aim to respond within a reasonable period.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes or the law requires. The date at the top shows the current version.
